R-taso turns 40 this year, and we celebrated this milestone together with our amazing staff and their spouses. The evening was filled with a warm atmosphere, memories and good music.

Forty years is is a respectable age, and throughout this journey we’ve remained committed to the same goal: developing and promoting industial safety. That principle still lies at the heart of everything we do, made possible above all by our dedicated team whose commitment shines through in daily work and in the experiences of our customers.

A warm thank you to the City of Raahe for acknowledging our anniversary! And a special thank you to our staff for the wonderful surprise: a photo book capturing R-taso’s history. The stories within it beautifully highlight what our culture is built on: committed people, working together towards a common goal. R-taso is all of us. Our whole team contributes to our safety culture and its continuous improvement.

Our company was founded on the idea of creating the world’s best stairs and platforms. That idea still guides us today, and our work continues strong on an international level as well. We are proud to serve as experts in the ISO 14122 working group, where we bring Finnish expertise into a global safety standard.

These excellent customer satisfaction results point out the success of our long-term work and highlight the central role of customer focus at the heart of our operations.

The international standard for access systems, ”EN ISO 14122 Safety of machinery – Permanent means of access to machinery”, is currently undergoing a revision. The goal of this update is to improve the standard’s clarity, applicability, and above all the safety of working environments worldwide.

Finland is represented in the international working group by our CEO, Ville Törmänen. In addition to virtual meetings, the group has already convened in Copenhagen, Stockholm, and Boston for the revision process. The development of ISO standards is a consensus-driven and multi-stage process, aiming for global alignment and consistency.

Revising a standard typically takes several years. We keep our clients informed about upcoming changes and ensure that the solutions we design are always safe and fully aligned with the latest standards.

The standard EN ISO 14122 Safety of machinery – Permanent means of access to machinery is currently under revision. The working group, consisting of experts from all around the world, gathers regularly for this standardization work.

The good news for our customers is that R-taso´s CEO Ville Törmänen participates as Finland´s representative in the working group. Therefore, our customers have the best and most up-to-date information on the safety standard´s requirements.

This week the international group of experts gathered in Stockholm at Swedish Institute for Standards, SIS office.

R-taso´s sponsor athlete, hurdler Saara Keskitalo became the fifth Finn to break the record of 13 seconds in women’s 100 metre hurdles.

Saara´s competing season 2024 ended successfully in September, as she became second in the international games in women’s 100 metre hurdles in Ostrava, Czechs. Saara timed 13,21 seconds, the winner was timed 13,16.

Saara broke the time limit of 13 seconds in July as she timed 12,84, which is the fifth best all-time recorded result in Finland. In Kalevan Kisat, National Championships, in June Saara won third place.

Early in 2024 R-taso decided to support the young athlete Saara Keskitalo in achieving international levels in her athletic career. Supporting Saara in her athletics is a part of our social responsibility actions.

Saara’s early season has been successful. The so-called magic limit of women’s 100 metre hurdles is said to be 13 seconds. Saara beat that limit generously by running the time 12,84 in Joensuu games in July. It fell short only seven hundredth of a second from the Paris Olympics result limit. Saara won bronze in the Finnish athletic games in the end of June, which is a great achievement considering the high level in Finnish women’s sprint hurdles.

The season is still running. R-taso wishes Saara good luck for the rest of the summer races!

Smart solutions for energy production

Demeca delivers modular solutions for agricultural manure processing, for nutrient recycling and for self-sufficient energy production. R-taso has designed perfectly fitting walkways for safe use and maintenance for Demeca´s biogas plants.

Demeca´s energy efficient biogas plants help to produce energy and biomethane for traffic use. The biogas process utilizes farmed animals’ liquid manure and also agricultural dry feeds and industrial side streams. Demeca´s product development has invested in the past year in scaling the farm sized biogas plant modules into bigger units, which enables so called satellite plant deliveries and other communal methane tanks and/or component deliveries. Due to modular structure the biogas plant is modifiable and easily installed. The biogas plant´s heart is the biogas reactor, which needs safe walkways for usage and maintenance.

R-taso delivers professional walkways and maintenance platforms for various needs for Demeca. The 3D model proposals and offers for different solution alternatives always arrive promptly after requests. At Demeca we can concentrate on our core business, as the walkway designs are already designed to the detail and only need a quick check-up. R-taso´s modular structures are solid in their design and the products´ installation is clear and easy.

Modular and sustainable structures

Modular product structure is an efficient way to decrease the climate impacts of steel construction. When modularity and bolted connections are utilized in structural engineering, the structures can easily be modified, expanded, dismantled, and moved to a new location. Modularity enhances the optimal use of resources and minimizes the waste of raw materials.

R-taso is a pioneer in optimizing the carbon footprint of steel structures. “We want to participate in creating a sustainable future and wish to promote steel structures´ circular economy, where the value of materials stays in the cycle as long as possible. Recycling steel structures should be the last stage, before which all possibilities of repairing and reusing have been considered. In addition to optimizing the steel structures we have invested in carbon footprint calculation. We can deliver product-specific carbon footprint calculations for our solutions”, says Ville Törmänen, CEO of R-taso Oy.
